Sunmile SM-G31 Meat Grinder

Sunmile SM-G31 Meat Grinder

The Sunmile SM-G31 is a perfect meat grinder for people who don’t need to grind their meat in an industrial capacity; it has a one horsepower engine that can grind through meat quickly, and its simple On/Off switch makes the unit very easy to use. There are no complicated settings or buttons on this machine. All you need to do is turn on the machine and feed meat into the auger. If you’re looking for a no frills and inexpensive machine that grinds meat and makes sausage, then you definitely need to check out the SM-G31.

Most consumers who are looking for a meat grinder want a dependable product that will do a good job every time that it is used; they don’t want a fancy piece of equipment that fails to do its job. The manufacturers of the Sunmile SM-G31 understand this, and they used this knowledge to create a quality grinder that can be sold at an inexpensive price. The compact unit makes great use of space, so you never have to worry about a bulky unit taking up all your counter or cabinet space.

Don’t make the mistake of underestimating this grinder. It has a powerful 800 Watt motor that is capable of grinding through large amounts of meat in a matter of minutes. It comes with three cutting plates, and this allows you to create coarse, medium and fine textured meat. If you’re ever in need of some fresh homemade sausage, you can use this unit’s sausage attachment to quickly create sausage filling without any hassles.

The Sunmile comes with a large aluminum tray that makes it easy to feed meat into the unit, and you can use the food pusher to quickly push meat through the grinder without having to worry about your hands and fingers. The unit is very safe, and for the price, you’ll be hard pressed to find another grinder that grinds meat as quickly and effectively as the SM-G31.

Cons

The Sunmile has the ability to make sausage, but it doesn’t push ground meat out through the attachment with much force. If you are going to be making a lot of sausage, this can make it a little difficult, so you might be better off buying a separate sausage stuffer to finish off the job. You can use the money you save when you buy this unit to buy a standalone stuffer, and it’ll still be cheaper than buying an expensive grinder.

The unit also doesn’t have reverse functionality, so you need to be careful with the meat you put inside of it. You never want to put a large amount of bones and tendons in the grinder because they will cause the unit to clog, and once it’s clogged, the unit needs to be cleaned manually.

What Kind Of Grinding Is This Unit The Best Suited For?

This unit fits the bill for most consumer’s grinding needs. If you need a dependable grinder that does its job well, then you should consider buying the Sunmile SM-G31; it’s not terribly powerful, but it always gets the job done. It works awesomely for people who need to grind up all types of meat, but if you are thinking of grinding industrial amounts, then the unit may fall a little short.

Basically, this unit is perfect for most home users. It weighs eight pounds, and it’s pretty compact; this makes for portability and easy storage. The unit is powerful enough to get through a couple of pounds of meat in one sitting, and if you’re only going to be grinding a couple of times a week, you really don’t need anything more than this unit.

Always make sure to cut up your meat into small chunks when using this unit, and throw them into the freezer for a bit before putting them in the grinder. Semi-frozen meat goes through the machine better, and your end product will come out with a finer grind than room temperature meat. If you cut and freeze your meat before putting it through the grinder, you’ll have excellent results that are just as good as what you would get from a commercial grinder.

How Do You Maintain And The Sunmile SM-G31?

This Sunmile unit is easy to disassemble, and it’s important that you make sure to take it apart and clean it right after you use it. The aluminum and steel components tend to get gunky if you don’t clean them, and leaving raw meat on metal objects is a breeding ground for bacteria and germs.

The best way to clean this unit is with warm and soapy water; it’s best if you avoid harsh cleaners like bleach. The pieces of this unit are lightweight, so they aren’t meant to be put in the dishwasher; if you do happen to put them in the washer, the colors of the pieces and accessories bleed. Wash your grinder components in your sink, and let them air dry before you put them away. It doesn’t take a very long time to clean the individual pieces, and cleaning ensures that your equipment will work perfectly for a very long time.

It’s lightweight and compact, so you never have to worry about a clunky and heavy appliance taking up all your counter and storage space.

  1. A meat grinder with plastic gears. It doesn’t leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. I do not trust plastic anything in a drive system. What ever happened to good old metal gears? Hard to find well made products these days, meat grinders included.

    1. I purchased SM-G31 meat grinder in December as a gift. Received the order but did not try to use it until after the holidays. When I tried using it for the first time it did not work. When I turned it on, it sounded liker it was running but the auger did not turn. I have been trying since to get ahold of someone who can help but to no avail. Please have someone contact me to advise what I need to do to get it to work.
